Ranbir & Deepika confess their love

In between collecting their Best Debutant Filmfare awards, Ranbir and Deepika declare their love for each other, backstage

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have decided to go public with their relationship at last. At the 53rd Fair One Filmfare awards function, we actually caught them saying 'I love you' to each other, backstage.

The couple came together backstage and stood huddled waiting for their entry. Probably to alleviate the tension, Ranbir looked deep into Deepika's eyes and whispered, “I love you”. Deepika smiled shyly and whispered right back, “I love you too”. They thought no one had heard them. (They forgot that walls have ears.)

After the award function, both of them headed for Farah Ali Khan’s party, where they held hands and snuggled up to each other through the night. Later they even kissed each other with abandon, making no bones about their feelings for each other. They know that we all know about their love. And they don’t care. Way to go, Ranbir, Deepika
The two got close during the shoot for Siddharth Anand’s film in Australia. Cupid hammered his final blow there.

Since then, they’ve been pretty much together.

Incidentally, we’ve heard that Deepika ended her relationship with Yuvraj Singh on the phone.

Secret Marriages
27 Feb, 2008 04:13 am ISTlBhavikk Sangghvi/INDIATIMES MOVIES

It’s shocking to the point of being seemingly unbelievable, but it’s true.

Noted astro numerologist Bhavikk Sangghvi analyses that all the ‘secret marriages’ in Bollywood have had the No.4 and 8 in common i.e. be it the person’s date of birth, their marriage dates, vibrations of his / her name etc.

People or dates ruled by Uranus / Rahu ( No.4 ) are moody and unpredictable. They like to try out new adventures in their lives and eloping or getting married secretly is ‘their’ idea of showcasing their unconventional attitude towards life ( so what if it’s a bad decision or even the whole marriage is a farce ).

Whereas people or dates ruled by Saturn / Shani ( No.8 ) go through their share of major ups and downs in life and the struggle part ( either professionally or personally ) just never seems to end.

Take a look at famous Bollywood couples who have fallen victim to the SMS ( Secret Marriage Syndrome ) :-

1) Shammi Kapoor had a quiet temple affair at Banganga with Geeta Bali in 1955. The former ( born on 21st Oct. 1931 ) is a Libran partly ruled by No.8.

2) Kishore Kumar secretly married Madhubala in 1960. Kishoreda was a No.4 person in numerology born on 4th Aug. 1929 whereas Madhubala ( 14th Feb. 1933 ) was an Aquarian ( all Aquarians are commonly ruled by No.8 ).

3) In 1980, Dilip Kumar ( 11th Dec. 1922 ) secretly married Asma. Dilip Kumar is indirectly ruled by No.4 since his destiny number adds up to No.1 ( 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 9 + 2 + 2 = 19 = 1 + 9 = 10 = 1 + 0 = 1 ). ( Nos.1 and 4 always go hand in hand ).

4) Sanjay Khan ( 3rd Jan. 1941 ) secretly married Zeenat Aman in the same year (1980) Sanjay too is indirectly ruled by No.4 since his destiny number also add up to No.1 ( 3 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 4 + 1 = 19 = 1 + 9 = 10 = 1 + 0 = 1 ). On the other hand, Zeenat is doubly ruled by No.1 ( and hence No.4 ) since her fate and destiny number both add up to No.1. ( 19th Nov. 1951 i.e. 1 + 9 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 1 = 28 = 2 + 8 = 1 + 0 = 1 ).

5) Not to be left behind, Hema Malini also secretly married Dharmendra in 1980. The latter is a No.8 ( 8th Dec. 1935 ) person in numerology while the former is partly ruled by No.8 being a Libran ( 16th Oct. 1948 ).

6) Raj Babber ( 23rd June 1952 ) secretly married Smita Patil ( 17th Oct. 1955 ) in 1985. While the latter was both ways ruled by Saturn ( No.8 ) being born on the 17th and also a Libran partly ruled by No.8 ), Raj is indirectly ruled by No.4 since his destiny number adds up to No.1 ( 2 + 3 + 6 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 2 = 28 = 2 + 8 = 10 = 1 + 0 = 1 ). ( 1 – 4 factor )

7) Jayaprada went through a secret wedding ceremony with the much married producer Srikant Nahta at a hotel in Mumbai on 22nd June, 1986. This day was primarily ruled by No.4 ( 2 + 2 = 4 ). Also her date of birth adds up to No.8 ( 3rd Apr. 1954 = 3 + 4 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 4 = 26 = 2 + 6 = 8 ).

Cool Padmini Kolhapure went through a 1 am ceremony with producer Pradeep Sharma on 13th Aug. 1986. This day too belonged to Rahu ( 1 + 3 = 4 ).

9) In 1986, even the perfectionist Aamir Khan could not resist the SMS temptation. In this case, the actor’s name adds up to No.22 ( 2 + 2 = 4 ).

10) Our very own ‘Chi-Chi’ secretly married Sunita, sister of his maternal aunt at their kuluguru’s math in 1987. Govinda is a cusp born between the two sun signs – Sagittarius and Capricorn ( 21st Dec. 1963 ). All Capricorns are commonly ruled by No.8.

11) The versatile Kamal Haasan secretly married actress Sarika in 1988. Once again, Kamal’s destiny number adds up to No.1 ( 7th Nov. 1954 = 7 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 4 = 28 = 2 + 8 = 10 = 1 + 0 = 1 ) making him indirectly ruled by No.4 ( 1 – 4 factor )

12) A struggling actor then, Saif Ali Khan & Amrita Singh’s secret marriage was solemnised by a ‘maulvi’ in 1991. While Amrita is an Aquarian ruled by No.8 ( 9th Feb. 1958 ), Saif is a Leo ( 16th Aug. 1970 ) ruled by No.1 and hence indirectly ruled by No.4. ( 1 – 4 factor )

13) Sridevi too, married Boney Kapoor in a clandestine way before he could legally desert his first wife. Sri is directly ruled by No.4 ( 13th Aug. 1959 ) and also indirectly, being a Leo ruled by No.1. ( 1 – 4 factor )

14 ) Last but not the least, Sanjay Dutt in his 49th year ( 4 + 9 = 13 = 1 + 3 = 4 ) secretly married his girlfriend of two years, Manyata last week. Sanju is also a Leo ( 29th July, 1959 ) indirectly ruled by No.4. ( 1 – 4 factor ).

At this rate, the ‘secret marriage syndrome’ ( SMS ) is here to stay !

In Bollywood atleast !

Adi & Rani hot news....

Aditya Chopra files for divorce, to marry Rani?

22 Feb 2008, 0204 hrs IST,Swati Deshpande & Bharti Dubey,TNN

Hot-shot filmmaker Aditya Chopra has filed for divorce (Agencies Photo)

MUMBAI: He made the hugely popular Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and the not so brilliant Mohabbatein , soared at the box office with Dhoom and Chak De , and is now all set to direct Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi after a gap of eight years.

But finally, hot-shot film producer and sometime director Aditya Chopra's penchant for romance on the big screen may get a legal entry into his real life this May.

Movie mogul Yash Chopra's son is finally on his way to ending his marriage with Payal Khanna and perhaps making a new beginning with current beau, actress Rani Mukherjee.

Chopra's films may have a rambling, leisurely feel, but the mutual consent petition he filed a couple of months back is a crisp two-page affair. There's no storyline here.

As the law requires, it merely says that the husband and wife have irreconcilable differences and want out.

Their married life of five-odd years is headed nowhere, they have told the family court in Bandra. The mandatory six-month cooling-off period required after filing a mutual consent divorce petition will get over this May for the producer.

It took three joint meetings with their lawyer for the two to set their divorce process in motion. Their lawyer advised them and they agreed not to mention the terms of settlement in the court documents, opting instead for an out-of-court arrangement. As there are no children involved, heartache is at a minimum.

Aditya's family is not too happy with his decision. Family sources say that his parents love their daughter-in-law and would like to take care of her even after the formal split. She has, in any case, been given a spacious home in Juhu and her bank balance has been augmented by several crores. Yash Raj Studios, which has churned out blockbusters and is worth an estimated Rs 1,000 crore, owes its success to the 36-year-old Aditya's brains.

The quiet, soft-spoken producer prefers to keep a low profile in the media and his interviews are hard to come by.

Aditya's marriage, it is believed, started falling apart about two years ago. In the first half of 2006 he almost moved out of his house, said sources close to the family. Better known as Adi in the film industry, he returned from the outdoor shoot of Karan Johar’s film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna but instead of going home checked into a five-star hotel.

An adamant Adi had insisted then that he would not come home, even as his parents tried to reason with him. He apparently wanted Payal to move out of the house before he returned home. He even allegedly threatened to start his own production house, said industry sources. Payal then decided to move to Singapore for sometime so that Aditya would return home and work.

The sprawling and swanky Yash Raj Films studio at Andheri link road with its state-of-the-art set up has apparently been designed by Payal. She had worked relentlessly for years to put up the new YRF studio.

SRK appoints Ranbir as Deepika’s bodyguard

There is something strange about the latest Pepsi advertisement, which has just been unveiled on the small screen. And looks like there is much more than what meets the eye!

Reason? This latest cola commercial features Shahrukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone and surprisingly has King Khan with shortest screen presence amongst the three. Now if this wasn't enough, even his characterization in the promo is also that of a weak personality, which lets Ranbir and Deepika walk away with the best lines and shots.
The advertisement features Ranbir and Deepika as lovers. Shahrukh plays Deepika's geeky elder brother who has a fascination for the world of space and extra terrestrial happenings. The scenes, which follow show how Ranbir comes in the dead of the night to meet Deepika and pretends to be an extra terrestrial creature in front of Khan.

Now one just looks forward to check out if the promo shown so far has something more to offer in the form of a sequel. If that's the case and Shahrukh has a meaty part to enact then there still seems sense for him to have given a nod to the commercial. Otherwise one wonders what made him sign on the dotted line to a script that had precious little to offer him?

Jodhaa Akbar Review

Jodhaa Akbar Review

Let's get one thing straight: You haven't watched anything so opulent, so magnificent like this in a long, long time on the Hindi screen. It's not just body beautiful, but there's soul as well.

It requires courage, prowess, patience, aptitude, knowledge, passion and of course, loads of currency to attempt a movie like JODHAA AKBAR. But more than anything else, it requires your firm belief in the subject, the belief to attempt a historical when historicals are considered an absolute no-no in the industry, the belief to spend almost Rs. 40 crores in a film that could go either ways.

Write your own movie review of Jodhaa Akbar
Only when you're convinced yourself can you convince millions of moviegoers. And convinced you are after watching JODHAA AKBAR, a film of epic proportions.

Now let's clear a few misconceptions pertaining to the film…

It's blasphemous to compare MUGHAL-E-AZAM and JODHAA AKBAR. While MUGHAL-E-AZAM was primarily about the legendary romance between Salim and Anarkali, a subject that has been attempted quite a few times on the Hindi screen before, JODHAA AKBAR is about the relationship that the young Akbar shared with Jodhaa.

A lot has been said and written about its length [3.20 hours]. Does the viewer of today have the patience to watch a really lengthy film in today's times? But once into JODHAA AKBAR, the sequence of events, the drama, the romance, the war… every aspect keeps you mesmerized. Oh yes, the length does pinch you at one crucial point [second hour, which is relatively shorter], when a song breaks out. Otherwise, the 3 + hours are very well spent.

When you watch historicals like MUGHAL-E-AZAM and RAZIA SULTAN, the usage of chaste Urdu is difficult to comprehend at times. Not here! The language is simplified - Akbar speaks in Urdu, Jodhaa in Hindi - and it's easy to decipher.
As a cinematic experience, it would be wrong to compare JODHAA AKBAR to any of Ashutosh Gowariker's previous endeavors. Why, it would be erroneous to compare the film with any film ever made before in this genre. This one stands out and stands out the tallest.

To sum up, JODHAA AKBAR leaves you spellbound, enthralled, entranced and awestruck. Ashutosh Gowariker makes the legendary characters come alive on screen. Take a bow, Ashu!

Set in the sixteenth century, JODHAA AKBAR is a love story about a marriage of alliance that gave birth to true love between a great Mughal emperor, Akbar, and a Rajput princess, Jodhaa. Little did Akbar [Hrithik Roshan] know that when he married Jodhaa [Aishwarya Rai Bachchan], he would be embarking upon a new journey -- the journey of true love.

The daughter of King Bharmal of Amer [Kulbhushan Kharbanda], Jodhaa resented being reduced to a mere political pawn in this marriage of alliance, and Akbar's biggest challenge now did not merely lie in winning battles, but in winning the love of this defiant princess.

One of the prime reasons why JODHAA AKBAR works is because the present-day viewer is unaware of the romance between Akbar and Jodhaa. Sure, we all know of Akbar as a great emperor, but the love story makes for a refreshing subject. And the execution of a number of sequences makes JODHAA AKBAR extremely special.

Some instances:
* The war sequence at the very outset. You realize the scale and magnitude of the film at the very beginning.
* Hrithik taming an out-of-control elephant. It's hair-raising.
* The two pre-conditions set by Jodhaa, before her marriage to Akbar. Very interesting.
* The confrontation between Ila Arun and Ash at the kitchen, when Ash decides to make the meal herself.
* The immediate sequence, when Ash is asked to taste the food herself by Ila before she's about to serve the food to the Emperor and his associates. Once done, Hrithik demanding that he be served the meal from the same platter that Jodhaa had used.
* The intermission point, which sows the seeds of a misunderstanding between Hrithik and Ash.
* Post-interval, Hrithik returning to Amer to get Ash back to Agra and the welcome ceremony by his mother-in-law [Suhasini Mulay].
* The sword fight the very next morning, between Hrithik and Ash.
* The 'Azeem-o-Shaan Shahenshah' track, when the entire kingdom hails Hrithik.
* The fight in the climax [reminds you of the fight between Brad Pitt and Eric Bana in TROY].
Amazing moments indeed…

Ashutosh Gowariker knows that historicals have to be simplified while narrating on celluloid so that the moviegoer is able to grasp and comprehend the plotline and the sequence of events. Thankfully, JODHAA AKBAR is not in the least difficult to decipher. Gowariker's handling of the subject deserves the highest praise, for it's not everyday that you come across a film like JODHAA AKBAR.

A.R. Rahman's music is not the type that you take to instantly, but yes, it gels beautifully with the mood of the film. 'Azeem-o-Shaan Shahenshah' and 'Jashn-e-Bahara' are the best tracks in terms of tune. In terms of choreography, 'Azeem-o-Shaan Shahenshah' is awe-inspiring, while the execution of 'Khwaja Mere Khwaja' is outstanding. Rahman's background score is simply extra-ordinary.

There's no room for dullness in Haider Ali and Gowariker's screenplay. The writing is tight, the drama keeps you hooked and the romantic track is wonderful. The film also talks of secularism, an issue so vital in today's times. K.P. Saxena's dialogues are amazing. At places, soaked in acid. The writer comes up with several gems, yet again. Kiran Deohans' cinematography matches international standards. The movement of camera at various places, especially in the battlefield, is breath-taking. Also, the D.O.P. captures the grandeur to the fullest. The production design [Nitin Chandrakant Desai] is, again, awesome. Recreating the bygone era requires not just money, but also the vision and Desai proves his supremacy yet again.

Be it the war sequences or the sword fights or general action, Ravi Dewan's contribution to the film is incredible. Especially noteworthy is the fight between Hrithik and Nikitin Dheer in the climax. It's simply outstanding! Editing [Ballu Saluja] is perfect, although the romantic song between Hrithik and Ash can be shortened in the second hour. The costumes [Neeta Lulla] as also the jewelry also deserve special mention.

JODHAA AKBAR also works because of the right casting. It's difficult to imagine anyone else in the role of Emperor Akbar. Hrithik seems born to play this role and he enacts it with such precision, such flourish, such confidence that it leaves you asking for more. A mind-boggling performance without doubt!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is superb. Oh yes, she looks ethereal -- a compliment she has heard a trillion times before. What's new in that? But watch her emote in this film. You realize the amazing talent that has hitherto not been tapped by any movie maker. A flawless performance indeed!

JODHAA AKBAR has a host of characters, but the ones whom you carry home, besides Hrithik and Ash, are Sonu Sood [excellent], Nikitin Dheer [fantastic], Ila Arun [electrifying; her finest work so far], Punam S. Sinha [graceful], Kulbhushan Kharbanda [perfect], Raza Murad [effective] and Rajesh Vivek [good]. Amitabh Bachchan's rich barritone voice adds lustre to the magnum opus.

On the whole, JODHAA AKBAR is, without a shred of doubt, a brilliant film in all respects. This historical has all it takes to prove the first blockbuster of 2008. Very strongly recommended!

Ekta to introduce another sexy girl

Ekta to introduce another sexy girl

TV Queen Ekta Kapoor is all set to launch a new face on the small screen.

The woman behind the successful banner Balaji Telefilms is to launch Additi Gupta in the soon to be premiered love drama Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil. It is also believed that Additi has added an extra ‘d’ in her name on Ekta’s suggestion.

Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil will be shown on Star Plus and could take a primetime slot as Kasautti Zindagi Kay, another Balaji Telefilms serial, comes to a conclusion.

Britain bans sadistic "Murder" DVD

London, Feb 29: In a rare movie, Britain's censor has banned the DVD release of "Murder-Set-Pieces," a low-budget American horror film in which a serial killer rapes and tortures his victims, including young children.

The rejection by the British Board of Film Classification means Los Angeles writer/director Nick Palumbo's second feature cannot be legally supplied anywhere in the UK.

The last time a DVD was banned in the UK was December 2006, when the BBFC gave the thumbs down to Vince Benedetti's "Struggle in Bondage," a pornographic film that consisted of scenes of women tied up and struggling while humiliated and crying.

A BBFC spokesperson said the distributor of the "Murder-Set-Pieces" DVD, Philadelphia-based TLA Releasing, has 42 days to appeal the decision, but noted that the DVD might run afoul of obscenity laws.

BBFC director David Cooke said the board considered trying to cut the film to allow it a release here.

SRK strikes a golden goal

After cricket, is Shah Rukh Khan turning his attention to football?

SRK, who recently won the bid for the Knight Riders - the IPL team from Kolkata - kicked off a football tournament in Pune. Having King Khan there was obviously all the inspiration the young footballers needed.

An avid football player SRK had, in fact, after winning the bid for the IPL team, indicated that he would want to invest in hockey and football in the future.

Kareena: Yeh dil maange more!

Well it seems people don't get enough of Bebo and want her more and more. She seems to be there in films, doing ads endorsing big brands, and gracing the front covers of almost all magazines big or small. Kareena seems to have reincarnated with a fantastic physique and a great attitude.

She is one actress who seems to have truly matured in to a bold and beautiful Bollywood actress. Life at 27, with its ups and downs, seems to have been great for Bebo with a collection of good films in her kitty.

Kareena had recently made the press go haywire with her break-up from Shahid and her relationship with Saif. But the news seems to have died down thanks to the couple's mature treatment regarding the whole furore.

Kareena now graces the front cover of 'Vogue' magazine's desi version that features some fantastic pictures of this Kapoor beauty in action. It is reported that the book also contains an exclusive and candid interview of Kareena. And for all the ladies out there this Bollywood beauty also seems to have revealed the secret behind her figure.

But what makes Kareena mysterious and interesting is the rocketing career that she is going through right now. With some big releases like 'Tashan' in the pipeline and the Saif-Kareena news showing no signs of mellowing, we can look forward for much more of Bebo!

Kajol officially refuses Aamir's Hirani project

One of the most talked about projects in the pipeline is the iconic Munnabhai series director, Rajkumar Hirani's next venture with Aamir Khan. While Hirani has gone on record umpteen number of times saying that the movie is not based on Chetan Bhagat's paperback bestseller and is basically about the Indian education system. However, ill-informed media sources continue to refer it as being the screen adaptation of ' Five Point Someone -What Not To Do At IIT'. While old habits die-hard and despite this piece the same reference will continue. Here is the latest about the project, in fact it is a confirmation of what we had hinted at last week in our news item - Ajay's advice to Kajol regarding SRK.
Kajol has now gone on record to say that she has turned down the project, which was earlier turned down by her co-star and friend Shah Rukh Khan, for obvious reasons. She has reportedly allocated the same dates to Karan Johar's next. News is that Kareena Kapoor has accepted Kajol's reject, due to her long time desire of working with the perfectionist Khan.

Well, whichever movie Kajol chooses or has chosen, we are sure that she will do full justice to her role, and meanwhile we are looking to see her back on screen this April with hubby Devgan's U, ME AUR HUM.
